Welcome to my Site

Gina_smallThanks for visiting my new site. The building of this site marks the relaunch of my music career, and life has never been so hectic. I now have a distributor for my new album ‘In My Life’ which was launched in August 2009. I’m doing lots of radio interviews and gigs to promote my music, and there’s also talk of an autobiographical film in the pipeline, so watch this space!

For the first time, my CDs are available here to buy online. ‘In My Life’ is also available from other outlets but my earlier albums ‘September Road’ and ‘Masquerades and Operas’ can only be purchased here

I’ve also added loads of photographs taken at various times over the years and you can view them all in the Photo Gallery. If you’d like to have a high resolution copy of any of these photos, please contact me at gina@ginalefaux.com  and I’ll send one to you. Alternatively, you can send the request by leaving a comment.

Please, take some time to have a look around, and to read about me and my music. I’d love you to leave a comment if there’s anything that you’d like to discuss or ask me.

‘In My Life’ review

Gina le Faux “In my life”
Label: Le faux music; LFM 006; 2009Gina le Faux, not a name that rang a bell the first second but hearing her beautiful music and diving in to her past showed a musician with a long history in (more or less) English folk music. She was the fiddler of Hom bru, a band that played music from the Shetlands, played in Shegui for a short while, started building her own violins, played with numerous known folk artists and recorded her first solo album in 1988. Now her new album is released and together with Martin Simpson, Andy Cutting, Hugh Bradley and Keith Angel she recorded one of the best folk albums of the year. Surprised by her deep and intense vocals, Le Faux takes me on a journey passing strong original songs like The critics song (only guitar and vocals), a self written instrumental called Il ya toujours demain / magnifikat which shows her quality as a fiddler backed by Andy Cutting on melodeon. Besides her own work a fantastic version of Hank William’s Alone and forsaken which is a highlight on this album, a heartbreaking version of the traditional Kellswater and the album ends in style with her personal version of the Lennon/McCartney song In my life. Great album, great singer, great songwriter and great band backing this beautiful singer.
